I once had a fellow photographer tell me that much of my work was extremely “visceral.” Upon thinking about this, I slowly realized that when it comes to my personal work, I tend to attempt to illustrate ideas and concepts, not moments or objects. I try to have my images evoke gut reactions, whether it is a sense of loss due to memories of moments past, or a sense of calm brought on by the idea of home. Due to this emphasis, I feel most of these images qualify, some more than others, as surrealist work. Most of my present projects are pursuing this vein deeper and deeper.
